Air Fryer Chicken Breast

Air Fryer Chicken Breast is seasoned, breaded chicken cooked quickly to a golden crust while keeping the meat juicy. Breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and spices coat the boneless skinless chicken halves, providing a flavorful crust. Cooking in the air fryer reduces oil use but still crisps the coating evenly.

Description

This recipe uses halved, skinless boneless chicken breasts coated in a mixture of gluten-free breadcrumbs or regular, Parmesan cheese, paprika, Italian seasoning, ground coriander, and salt. After lightly spraying the chicken with cooking spray, the coating mix is pressed on both sides to cover the surface evenly.

The coated chicken breasts cook in an air fryer at 350°F for 4 to 5 minutes per side. The air fryer’s hot air crisps the crust while locking in juices, resulting in a tender, well-seasoned piece of chicken. Internal temperature checks ensure safe cooking at 165°F.

Air Fryer Chicken Breast is versatile for meals needing a protein component with a crispy exterior. It pairs well with salads, vegetables, or grains and takes less time than oven-baked breaded chicken.

  • 1 lb chicken breast halved crossways, skinless boneless
  • ½ cup gluten-free breadcrumbs or regular
  • 4 tbsp Parmesan Cheese grated
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • ½ tsp ground coriander
  • salt optional
  • cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 180C / 350F.
  2. Mix together breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, paprika, Italian Seasoning, ground coriander and salt in a bowl.
  3. Lightly spray both sides of the halved chicken breast with a calorie-controlled cooking spray.
  4. Cover both sides of the chicken breasts with the coating mix and place chicken breast in the air fryer basket. Make sure the chicken breasts are not touching. 
  5. Cook between 4-5 mins then flip over and cook for 4-5 mins on the next side. " Cooking times depending on the thickness of the breast so maybe a little more or a little less. Chicken is done when it reaches an internal temperature of 75 C (165 F). 
  6. Air Fryers vary in their temperatures which is why I have added a cooking time range. When cooking this for the first time start with the lowest cooking times and adjust accordingly

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the air fryer to allow proper air circulation and even cooking.
  • Coat chicken breasts and place them in the air fryer promptly to prevent soggy coating.
  • Check that chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  • Adjust cooking times based on breast thickness, starting with the lowest recommended time.
