Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets
Description
To prepare the Air Fryer Chicken Nuggets, raw chicken breast cubes are dredged first in flour, then dipped into a beaten egg wash, and finally coated with a seasoned mixture of panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, smoked paprika, and salt. This layering creates a flavorful outer crust. Cooking in an air fryer at 400°F crisps the coating evenly and cooks the chicken through until it reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F, typically within 10 to 13 minutes.
The finished nuggets are golden brown with a crunchy exterior and a juicy, tender interior. Serving them hot maintains their crispiness and makes for a pleasant eating experience. These nuggets are suitable as a snack, appetizer, or casual meal component and can be paired with your choice of dipping sauces or sides.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs seasoned with Italian seasoning, if desired
- 2 tablespoons Parmesan Cheese grated
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg large
- 3 tablespoons white whole-wheat flour
- 1/2 pound chicken breast cut into 1-inch cubes, boneless, skinless
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 400℉.
- Mix the panko, cheese, paprika, and salt, and spread onto a large, rimmed plate. Pace the egg in a medium bowl and whisk it. Finally, place the flour in a medium, rimmed plate.
- Dredge the chicken in the flour, followed by the egg, shaking off any excess. Cover the pieces with the panko and place into the mesh basket of your air fryer.
