Air Fryer Curry Chicken Recipe
Description
The chicken is seasoned with a mix of curry powder, garlic, ginger, and salt, then marinated to develop flavor. Cooking in the air fryer at 400°F crisps the exterior and cooks the chicken cubes thoroughly in about 15 minutes. After initial cooking, the chicken and its juices are combined with a creamy mix of heavy cream and cornstarch slurry to thicken the sauce.
Returning the chicken to the air fryer for an additional 7 minutes allows the sauce to meld with the meat and thicken further. The final dish offers a mild spiced curry flavor balanced with creaminess and a tender texture from the air fryer cooking method.
Garnishing with fresh cilantro adds a herbal freshness. This curry chicken pairs well with jasmine or basmati rice, naan bread, or cauliflower rice for a low-carb option. The recipe includes options for spicier seasoning and chicken thigh substitution for variation.
Ingredients

- 1 cup yellow onion diced
- 1 1/2 Tablespoons garlic minced, cloves
- 5 teaspoons curry powder
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- 1 1/2 lbs chicken breast diced into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tsp water
- 1/3 cup heavy cream
- cilantro chopped, for garnish

- Place curry into a pan that fits in the air fryer basket.
- Set the air fryer to 400°F and cook for 15 minutes.
- Remove cooked chicken and juices to a heat proof mixing bowl. Add cream and cornstarch slurry. Mix.

Notes
- Add 1/2 to 1 teaspoon cayenne powder for more heat.
- Boneless, skinless chicken thighs can be used instead of breast for a different texture.

- Serve alongside jasmine, basmati rice, naan, or cauliflower rice for a complete meal.
