Instructions

  1. Using paper towels, gently pat the duck breast to remove excess moisture.
  2. With a sharp knife, carefully score the skin of the duck breast, creating a diamond pattern. Try to cut only through the skin, not the meat.
  3. Generously season both sides of the duck with a blend of thyme, salt, and pepper.
  4. Place the seasoned duck breast in the air fryer basket, keeping the skin side facing up.
  5. Set the air fryer to 400 degrees Fahrenheit and cook the duck for 10-15 minutes.
  6. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. The duck is ready when it reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. After cooking, allow the duck breast to rest for a few minutes before slicing.

Notes

  • Pat the duck breast dry before seasoning it. If there is excess moisture, the skin will not become crispy.
  • Switch up the seasoning. While thyme, salt, and pepper are classics, you can also try garlic powder, rosemary, or Italian seasoning.
  • Don't rely on cooking time alone. Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness. Duck is safe to eat when it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.
  • There will probably be a lot of duck fat in the bottom of the air fryer. You can keep it and use it to saute vegetables or roast potatoes. Strain it into a jar and store it in the fridge for up to a week.
