Air Fryer Meatballs
Description
Ground beef is mixed gently with Italian-style breadcrumbs, dried parsley, minced garlic, onion powder, a beaten egg, grated Parmesan cheese, salt, and black pepper until just combined to avoid overworking and toughening the meat. The mixture is formed into 1-inch-sized meatballs, spaced apart in the air fryer basket to allow hot air circulation and even cooking.
Meatballs are cooked at 400°F for about 10 minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F, indicating safety and proper doneness. The air fryer provides a convection-style environment that crisps the outside while keeping the interior juicy. Meatballs are checked for doneness by slicing if a thermometer is unavailable.
This recipe is suitable for batch cooking and meal preparation, with cooked meatballs stored in airtight containers in the refrigerator for three to four days. The small size and uniform cooking make them versatile for serving with pasta, in sandwiches, or as appetizers.
Tips recommend gentle mixing to maintain tenderness and spacing meatballs properly in the basket for best results. Cooking in batches may be necessary depending on air fryer size.
Ingredients
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- ¾ c. Italian-style breadcrumbs
- 1 Tbsp dried parsley flakes
- 1 tsp garlic minced
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 egg beaten
- ¼ c. Parmesan Cheese grated
- 1 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp black pepper ground
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, parsley, garlic, onion, egg, parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Mix until just combined.
- Shape beef mixture into 1 inch meatballs and place in the air fryer basket. Make sure they are not touching so the air can circulate around them. You may need to cook them in batches.
- Cook meatballs at 400 degrees F for about 10 minutes or until internal temperature is 165 degrees F.
- Remove from the air fryer and keep warm while you repeat with the rest of the meatballs.
Notes
- Mix ingredients gently to avoid dense, tough meatballs.
- Form meatballs lightly; do not compact too much to ensure tenderness.
- Arrange meatballs in a single layer spaced apart in the air fryer basket for even cooking; cook in batches if needed.
- Confirm doneness by using a meat thermometer reading 165°F or slicing open a meatball to check for no pink center.
- Store cooked meatballs in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days, ideal for meal prep.
