Instructions
- Bring the water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot.
- Cut each biscuit into four pieces and roll the dough into balls.
- Once the water is boiling, add dough balls four at a time. Let them cook for 2-3 minutes until they float and expand.
- Use a slotted spoon to remove cooked dough and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to dry. Continue to boil the remaining dough balls.
- Preheat the air fryer to 400 degrees. Put the egg in a bowl and stir to mix.
- Place the dough balls in the air fryer basket, keeping them in a single layer and leaving room to expand. Brush each one with the egg wash.
- Air fry for 5-6 minutes until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining dough.
- Before serving, brush the pretzel pieces with melted butter and sprinkle with coarse salt.
Notes
- Oven Baking: Put them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake in the oven for 12 minutes.
- Boiling them in a baking soda bath is essential for getting pretzel flavor. So don't be tempted to skip it.
- Don't overcrowd the bites in boiling water or the air fryer. They need room to expand. Cook them in batches as needed.
- Use parchment paper in the air fryer, so the soft dough doesn't stick.
