Air Fryer Salmon

Report
Air Fryer Salmon is a straightforward method to cook salmon fillets with a seasoned olive oil rub, resulting in tender, flaky fish with a lightly crisped exterior. The seasoning blend of salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika complements the natural salmon flavor. Cooking at 400°F in the air fryer allows quick, even cooking without drying out the fillets. A fresh lemon squeeze adds brightness at serving.

Description

This Air Fryer Salmon recipe starts with salmon fillets coated in olive oil and a simple seasoning mix including salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. The olive oil helps the seasoning adhere and promotes a lightly crisped surface during cooking. Placing the fillets into a preheated air fryer at 400°F cooks them between 7 and 9 minutes, depending on thickness, until the fish flakes easily with a fork and is cooked through. The high heat of the air fryer simulates a dry-heat roasting, which preserves moisture while creating a delicate texture without needing added fats. Finishing by squeezing fresh lemon juice over the salmon brightens the dish and complements the spices. This method provides a convenient way to prepare salmon without heating a full oven and reduces cooking time while minimizing monitoring. The recipe suggests refrigerated storage of leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days, helping with meal planning.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 salmon skin on or skin off, filets
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 lemon fresh

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F.  If your air fryer does not have a preheat option, then run the air fryer at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes.
  2. Rub each salmon filet with the olive oil.
  3. Mix the salt, pepper, garlic powder and paprika together in a small bowl and season the salmon with this seasoning mixture.
  4. Place the salmon in the air fryer and cook for 7-9 minutes at 400 degrees F  until the salmon is cooked through and flakey.  If the salmon is not done, cook in 1-2 minute increments until cooked to your preference. You may have to cook in batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
  5. Squeeze the lemon juice on the salmon when serving and enjoy!

Notes

  • Store cooked salmon leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • Adjust cooking time in 1-2 minute increments if salmon is not fully cooked after initial air frying.
  • Cooking in batches may be necessary depending on air fryer size to avoid overcrowding.
