Air Fryer Sweet & Sour Chicken Balls
Description
This recipe utilizes frozen sweet and sour chicken balls cooked in an air fryer for a crisp exterior without deep frying. The process involves cooking the chicken balls initially at 180°C (360°F) for 8 minutes. During cooking, the chicken balls are shaken to ensure even cooking and to prevent sticking. The accompanying sweet and sour sauce sachet is added to the air fryer during the last 4 minutes to defrost and warm alongside the chicken balls.
Adding a light spray of extra virgin olive oil before the final 4 minutes at 200°C (400°F) promotes a more appetizing golden and crispy finish. This optional step helps the chicken balls avoid a pale appearance and boosts texture. The final result is quick, crispy chicken balls with a sweet and sour sauce ready to serve. This recipe suits a fast and casual meal or snack.
The recipe notes emphasize the optional use of olive oil spray and the convenience of defrosting and heating the sauce at the same time as finishing the chicken balls. These insights help make the preparation more efficient and improve the eating experience.
