Air Fryer Whole Chicken
Description
The recipe begins with patting the chicken dry to help the dry rub adhere. The bird is seasoned all over and optionally sprinkled with salt. Cooking begins with the chicken breast-side down in a preheated 350°F (180°C) air fryer for 30 minutes, then flipped for 15 to 30 more minutes until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (76°C). Resting the chicken after cooking allows juices to redistribute. Depending on air fryer size, the bird may need slight modification for fitting.
The dry rub provides flavor penetration without added moisture, and the air fryer’s circulating heat crisps the skin while keeping the meat tender. This method offers a convenient alternative to oven roasting whole chickens for small household meals.
Cooked chicken can be stored airtight in the refrigerator for up to four days. The recipe notes a Weight Watchers point value per serving, signifying moderate portioning. Adjust timing as needed based on your air fryer model and chicken size.
