Alfredo Sauce Recipe

Alfredo Sauce Recipe creates a rich and creamy sauce combining butter, olive oil, shallots, heavy cream, and fresh Parmesan cheese enhanced with black pepper and nutmeg. The sauce's smooth texture and balanced savory flavor make it ideal for coating pasta, offering a luxurious complement without overpowering other ingredients. This sauce also accommodates variations such as substituting shallots with onions and garlic or adding cream cheese for extra creaminess.

Description

The Alfredo Sauce Recipe uses unsalted butter and olive oil melted together, then sautés finely minced shallots until soft. Heavy cream is gradually incorporated on low heat until thickened enough to coat a spoon. Freshly grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and a pinch of ground nutmeg are stirred in to finish the sauce, resulting in a velvety and flavorful cream base. The subtle sweetness of shallots combines with the richness of cream and cheese to create a well-rounded sauce.

Once prepared, the sauce can be poured hot over freshly cooked pasta. The instructions also suggest reserving some pasta water to loosen the sauce and help it cling better to noodles. Variations include using finely diced yellow onion and garlic instead of shallots and adding cream cheese for increased body and tang.

This sauce stores well and can be cooled and refrigerated for later use. It is best when served fresh with favorite pasta shapes for a comforting meal.
