All-American Strawberries

All-American Strawberries are fresh strawberries dipped in melted white candy melts and then dipped in blue sprinkles at the tip, creating a patriotic-looking treat. The coating requires the strawberries to be perfectly dry for the candy melts to adhere well. Once set in the refrigerator, the strawberries offer a sweet, decorating contrast with a crisp candy shell and fresh fruit inside.

Description

To prepare All-American Strawberries, white candy melts are gently melted and used to coat well-dried fresh strawberries. It is important that the strawberries are dry to ensure the coating sticks and does not slide off. The strawberries are dipped entirely in white chocolate and the tips are immediately dipped in blue sprinkles to create a decorative effect. They are then placed on parchment paper and refrigerated until the coating sets.

The result is a crisp white coating encasing juicy strawberries, with the sprinkles adding a bright blue accent visually and a slight texture contrast. The candy coating provides sweetness that complements the natural strawberry flavor without overpowering it.

These strawberries serve as elegant party treats or desserts, especially for occasions with a patriotic theme or summer celebrations. They should be eaten within about 12 hours for best texture and appearance, as prolonged refrigeration can cause condensation making the coating soggy.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 12 ounces white candy melts
  • Sprinkles blue
  • 2 pounds strawberries

Instructions

  1. Heat the Candy Melts in double boiler or microwave. The key to any chocolate covered strawberry is making sure it is dry. I recommend washing your strawberries and allowing them to air dry in the fridge for at least 2 hours prior to coating. You can also dab them off with a dry paper towel.
  2. Dip each strawberry into the white chocolate and then dip just the tip in a bowl of blue sprinkles.
  3. Lay on a piece of parchment or wax paper on a cookie sheet. Refrigerate for 10 minutes, or until ready to serve, or up to 12 hours. Any longer and they will begin to sweat and the sprinkles will dissolve.
