Almond Milk Slushie

The Almond Milk Slushie blends almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and ice to create a cold, creamy, lightly sweetened beverage with a texture between a smoothie and crushed ice. Adjusting ice quantity controls thickness and maple syrup plus vanilla can be added to taste. This refreshing drink is suited to warm days or as a dairy-free alternative to traditional slushies.

Description

This recipe combines almond milk with a touch of pure maple syrup and vanilla extract, then blends the mixture with ice cubes until it achieves a uniform slushie texture. The almond milk base imparts a mild nutty flavor balanced by the sweetness and aroma of maple and vanilla. Ice cubes provide a chilled, slightly crunchy texture that softens as the drink sits.

The preparation is straightforward: ingredients are added to a high-speed blender and processed until well blended and frosty. More ice can be incorporated to thicken the slushie but doing so dilutes the flavor, so sweetness or vanilla can be adjusted afterward to compensate. The resulting drink can be served immediately with a straw or spoon, offering a cooling treat with no dairy.

Substitutions for almond milk are possible with other milk types depending on preference or dietary needs. For reduced sugar options, liquid stevia is an alternative sweetener to maple syrup. The simple ingredient list and method make this slushie an accessible choice for a light, refreshing beverage.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cup almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 5-6 ice cubes

Instructions

  1. Combine all of the ingredients in a high-speed blender, and blend until a uniform slushie-like texture is achieved. Add more ice, if a thicker texture is desired, keeping in mind that additional ice will dilute the sweet vanilla flavor. (You can always add more maple syrup and vanilla, if you like.)
  2. Pour into a large glass and enjoy immediately, with a spoon or a straw!

Notes

  • You can substitute any preferred type of milk for almond milk according to taste or dietary needs.
  • Adjust ice quantity to control thickness but expect dilution of flavor with more ice.
  • For a sugar-free version, replace maple syrup with liquid stevia to taste.
  • Serve immediately after blending for best texture and flavor.
