Apple Cider Donut Cake
Description
This Apple Cider Donut Cake uses a yellow cake mix combined with apple cider and applesauce to create a batter infused with fruity moisture and subtle sweetness. Eggs, melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla contribute richness and depth to the flavor. Baking in a well-greased bundt pan shapes the cake into a ring that mimics classic donuts in appearance.
After baking and cooling briefly, the cake is brushed with melted butter then coated in a cinnamon and sugar mixture, which clings to the surface to provide a sweet, lightly crunchy outer layer. The cinnamon-sugar topping enhances the warm spice notes and adds a familiar texture reminiscent of fried donuts, without frying.
This cake makes a seasonal treat suitable for breakfast, dessert, or snack time. Its flavor pairs well with coffee or cider and fits well into fall menus or celebrations.
Depending on bundt pan size (10 or 12 cups), baking time will vary slightly; ensure a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Press the cinnamon-sugar mixture onto the cake by hand if needed for even coverage.
