Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats

Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats combine rolled oats with diced apples, cinnamon, chia seeds, and maple syrup, soaked overnight in your choice of milk. The result is a creamy, soft breakfast with gentle sweetness and warm spice. This no-cook preparation is convenient and can be made ahead, making morning routines easier.

Description

Apple Cinnamon Overnight Oats are made by combining finely diced apples and cinnamon, softened briefly in the microwave, then mixing with old-fashioned rolled oats, chia seeds, milk, and maple syrup. The mixture is left to refrigerate for at least four hours or overnight. Chia seeds absorb moisture, creating a thick yet tender texture, while the oats soak up the milk and softened apple to bring natural sweetness and cinnamon spice throughout.

The dish can be served cold, topped with additional apple pieces and a sprinkle of cinnamon for added texture and flavor.

For storage, these oats keep in an airtight container in the fridge for three to four days, though the texture will become softer over time. It is recommended to add the milk just before sleeping to maintain the most desirable texture and to avoid freezing, as that alters consistency unfavorably.

Ingredients

Servings
  • cup apple finely diced
  • ½ cup oats old-fashioned, rolled, gluten-free if needed
  • 1 tsp. chia seeds
  • ½ cup milk oat, soy, or nut-based milk
  • 2 Tbsp. pure maple syrup or honey
  • ¼ tsp. cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Add the diced apples and cinnamon to an 8-oz. glass Mason jar. Microwave for 60 seconds, or until the apples begin to soften.
  2. Add the oats, chia seeds, milk, and sweetener to the jar. Stir the oats with the liquid until well combined.
  3. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or up to overnight. Serve with additional diced apple and cinnamon.

Notes

  • Prepare the dish the night before and store refrigerated up to 3 to 4 days for convenience.
  • Adding milk just before refrigeration helps maintain better texture.
  • Freezing is not recommended due to altered texture when thawed.
