Apple Cranberry Crisp
Description
Apple Cranberry Crisp starts with sliced apples and fresh cranberries mixed with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract to create a bright, fruity base. A topping of old-fashioned oats, brown sugar, all-purpose flour, cinnamon, and cold cubed butter is cut together until crumbly. This topping is spread evenly over the fruit layer in an oven-safe dish.
During baking at 375 degrees, the fruit softens while the topping browns and becomes crisp, providing contrasting textures. The cinnamon adds warmth to the oat crumble, complementing the tartness of the cranberries and the sweetness of the apples.
The crisp is served warm, often accompanied by ice cream or whipped cream to add creaminess and mellow the tart fruit flavors. This dessert suits colder seasons or anytime a straightforward fruit crisp is desired.
