  • 6 apple peeled, cored, and sliced, medium
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup butter cold and cubed, unsalted
  • vanilla ice cream optional

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the sliced apples with granulated sugar and cinnamon until well coated. Transfer to the prepared baking dish.
  3. In another bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt. Add cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or your fingers to blend into the mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Evenly sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples in the baking dish.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbly. Serve warm with an optional scoop of vanilla ice cream.
