Apple Danish

My easy apple danish recipe is full of delicious flavor, all without any time-consuming prep! Every bite is filled with sweet apples, warming spices, and flaky puff pastry. It's the perfect breakfast or dessert for all the family!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup apple chopped, any kind
  • cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ¼ teaspoon allspice
  • ½ teaspoon cloves
  • 1 heet puff pastry thawed but cold
  • 3 tablespoons butter diced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400ºF
  2. Dice the apples into ¼ inch cubes.
  3. Combine with sugar, flour, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and cloves. Stir well.
  4. Lay out the sheet of puff pastry and roll out slightly.
  5. Slice strips ½ inch thick along each side, leaving 3-4 inches in the middle of the sheet.
  6. Spread the apple mixture down the center of the puff pastry.
  7. Dot the top with the butter.
  8. Fold the strips of the puff pastry across the apples, alternating them so it looks like a braid.
  9. Combine egg and water.
  10. Brush the puff pastry with the egg wash.
  11. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the pastry is golden brown.
  12. Drizzle with icing glaze, if desired.
