Instructions

Get prepped

  1. Peel, core, and cut the apples into eighths. Separate the biscuits and cut each one lengthwise into two circles. Measure out the ingredients for the sauce and topping. Check you have all ingredients ready.

Preheat the oven

  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a baking dish and set aside.

Assemble the dumplings

  1. Wrap each apple slice in one circle of dough, encasing the apple slice completely. Place the wrapped apple slices into the buttered baking dish.

Make the topping

  1. In a small bowl, combine the 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Set aside.

Make the sauce

  1. In a saucepan, combine 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup water, 1/4 cup butter, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Heat until the sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally.

Bake the dumplings

  1. Pour the sauce over the apple dumplings and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar topping. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve

  1. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream if desired. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Refrigerator: Refrigerate any leftover dumplings in an airtight container for up to 3 days.Reheat: Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) until warmed through.
