Apple Dumplings

Apple Dumplings combine sweet, spiced apples wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, baked until golden and bathed in a buttery, sugary sauce enhanced with vanilla and cinnamon. The addition of Mountain Dew or a similar soda adds a subtle caramelized tang to the syrup that cooks around the dumplings, creating a moist, flavorful finish. This dessert balances tart apple slices with sweet dough and sauce, suitable for serving warm with ice cream.

Description

Apple Dumplings start with peeled, cored, and sliced Granny Smith apples, which offer a tart contrast to the sweet glaze. Each apple slice is rolled in crescent roll dough and placed in a baking dish. A mixture of melted butter, sugar, and vanilla is poured evenly over the dumplings, and soda like Mountain Dew or Sprite is added around the edges to create a bubbling syrup during baking. Cinnamon sprinkled on top provides a warm spice note.

Baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 40 to 45 minutes, the dumplings develop a golden brown crust while the apples soften inside. Serving with ice cream enhances the dessert with creamy coolness, pairing well with the warm sauce. The soda in the recipe lends a distinctive caramel flavor that complements the cinnamon and vanilla elements.
