Description

Apple Fritters begin with a batter combining all-purpose flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon to create a lightly spiced base. Portions of batter are fried in hot vegetable oil at around 375°F, cooking until the fritters are golden brown on one side before flipping briefly.   • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup applesauce unsweetened
  • ½ cup milk
  • 2 apple diced, large
  • vegetable oil

Glaze Ingredients

  • 3 cup powdered sugar
  • cup milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

Fritter Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, stir the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon to combine.
  2. Add applesauce and milk to the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  3. Fold in the diced apples.
  4. Heat 2 inches of oil in a large skillet to about 375 degrees.
  5. Scoop 1/3 cup of the apple fritter batter and place in the hot oil, spreading it down to flatten.
  6. Cook on one side for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown, then flip with tongs and cook another 1-2 minutes.
  7. Place the cooked fritters on a cooling rack with a pan or parchment paper underneath to catch oil drippings.
  8. Continue with all the batter.

Glaze Instructions

  1. Whisk the glaze ingredients together in a medium sized bowl until smooth.
  2. Dip each fritter into it.
  3. Place back on rack to harden and drip.
