Arby's Chocolate Turnovers
Description
The turnover preparation begins by melting chocolate in a double boiler, then stirring in heavy cream to create a glossy chocolate filling. Puff pastry sheets are rolled out and cut into squares, each topped with a measured amount of chocolate filling to prevent leakage during baking. Two edges of each square are coated with an egg wash made from beaten egg and water, which acts as glue to seal the pastry into a triangle.
Baked at 350 degrees Fahrenheit (about 175 degrees Celsius) for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, the turnovers develop a pale tan color and a flaky crust. Once removed from the oven, additional melted chocolate is drizzled on top for added richness and appeal. The recipe emphasizes care when filling the pastries to avoid overflow and suggests reheating the chocolate if needed for drizzling.
This pastry is suitable as a dessert or a sweet snack. The balance of flaky puff pastry with creamy chocolate center offers a pleasing contrast in texture and flavor. It can be served fresh and warm to best enjoy the melting chocolate inside. The recipe does not specify storage directions but turnovers are best consumed shortly after baking to maintain crispness.
