Asian Burgers with Sriracha Mayo
Description
Asian Burgers with Sriracha Mayo feature seasoned ground beef infused with oyster sauce, soy sauce, sugar, and aromatics like garlic, onion, and ginger powders. The sesame oil adds a toasty note, and panko crumbs improve the texture and binding. Combined with egg, the mixture forms juicy patties that are best grilled to medium to maintain moisture and flavor. The sriracha mayo spread blends creamy mayonnaise with dijon mustard and spicy sriracha, complementing the savory burger.
The burgers are served on buns or ciabatta rolls, layered with crunchy cole slaw and fresh chopped cilantro, adding brightness and contrast to the rich meat and sauce. This combination creates a balanced bite with heat, umami, and freshness.
This recipe suggests forming four larger patties, but the same mixture can be divided into six smaller ones to adjust portion size. The flavor combination makes these burgers unique and suitable for grill-friendly gatherings or weeknight dinners.
Ingredients
For the Burgers:
- 1 ½ lb ground beef lean
- ¼ cup panko bread crumbs
- 2 TB oyster sauce Asian
- 2 TB soy sauce or gluten-free Tamari sauce
- 1 TB granulated sugar
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp sesame oil caramel brown in color, Asian toasted
- ½ tsp ground ginger
- ¼ tsp white pepper
- ¼ tsp kosher salt
- 1 egg large
Sriracha Mayo:
- ½ cup mayonnaise whole
- 4 tsp sriracha or modify to desired spice level
- 2 TB Dijon mustard
For Serving:
- 4 Buns or ciabatta rolls
- 8 oz cole slaw mix no dressing, bagged, cabbage-based
- cilantro freshly chopped
Instructions
- Make Sriracha Mayo: Combine mayo, Sriracha, and dijon mustard in a bowl. Add more or less Sriracha depending on how much kick you want. (As written, it's a moderate spice level.)
- Form Burgers: In a large bowl, combine all burger ingredients and mix well to thoroughly incorporate. Form into 4 even patties.
- Grill and Serve: Grill on preheated grill until patties are cooked to your liking. Medium is recommended. Serve with cabbage slaw, cilantro, and plenty of Sriracha mayo on buns.
Notes
- This recipe can also be made into six smaller burgers instead of four larger ones using the same ingredient amounts.
- Adjust the amount of Sriracha in the mayo to control the spice level according to preference.
- To retain juiciness, avoid overcooking the patties on the grill; medium doneness is recommended.
- Fresh cilantro and crisp cole slaw complement the rich burger and add texture contrast.
