Asian Lettuce Wraps
Description
This recipe starts by mincing chicken breast finely and cooking it with aromatic shallots, garlic, and fresh ginger. It is then combined with a sauce made from hoisin, soy sauce, sesame oil, lime juice, and Sriracha, imparting a sweet, tangy, and mildly spicy flavor. The wholewheat noodles are cooked briefly, providing a tender base within crisp lettuce leaves.
The dish is assembled by filling lettuce leaves with noodles, the flavorful chicken mixture, and garnishes like grated carrot, crushed cashews, fresh coriander, spring onions, crushed red chili, and sesame seeds. This combination provides a mix of soft, tender, and crunchy textures alongside savory and bright flavors.
Variations in protein and greens are possible, and thicker sauces can be achieved by adding cornflour slurry. The leftovers keep well refrigerated for two days. Adding crushed nuts on top enhances the crunch and nutty taste of the wraps.

- Protein can be swapped for vegetables, prawns, or tofu as preferred.
- Sweet chili sauce can replace Sriracha for a milder flavor.
- Leftover cooked chicken mixture stores up to two days in an airtight container in the fridge.
- For thicker sauce, add a cornflour slurry during cooking.
- Add crushed peanuts or cashews for extra crunch on top.
