Asian Side Salad

This Asian Side Salad combines fresh leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, and red onion with a tangy dressing of soy sauce, peanut oil, rice vinegar, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic. It is finished with crispy fried shallots for added texture and a subtle crunch, making it a flavorful and fresh accompaniment.

Description

The salad pairs crisp greens and juicy cherry tomatoes with a dressing that balances the umami of soy sauce and sesame oil with the brightness of rice vinegar and freshness from ginger and garlic. The peanut or neutral oil adds richness and helps meld the flavors. Finely sliced red onion contributes mild sharpness without overpowering the salad.

Sprinkling fried shallots on top adds a crisp texture and savory depth, elevating the overall mouthfeel. This salad is tossed just before serving to maintain freshness and crispness.

Fried shallots can be found ready-made at Asian markets or substituted with chopped nuts for a different crunch. The salad pairs well with a variety of main dishes where a light, flavorful side is desired.
