Asian-Style Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Asian-Style Chicken Lettuce Wraps feature bite-sized chicken cooked with onions in sesame oil, coated in a flavorful sauce blending garlic, ginger, soy sauce, chili pastes, and sweeteners. The final mix includes toasted peanuts for crunch and is served wrapped in crisp Boston Bibb lettuce, offering a contrast of textures and balanced savory-spicy flavors.

Description

The recipe begins by sautéing diced onion in sesame oil until translucent, then cooking small pieces of chicken breast until done. A complex sauce combining garlic, ginger, brown sugar, soy sauce, tomato paste, rice vinegar, sriracha, hoisin sauce, and chili paste is prepared and simmered with chicken broth thickened with cornstarch to coat the chicken.

This results in a thickened, savory-sweet sauce with a spicy kick enveloping tender chicken pieces. Roughly chopped peanuts stirred in add texture and nuttiness. The mixture is cooled slightly before serving to allow the sauce to set.

Served in fresh Boston Bibb lettuce leaves, these wraps offer handheld portions that combine the rich filling with crisp, cool lettuce. Garnishes like sesame seeds and green onion add visual appeal and subtle flavor enhancements. This dish works well as an appetizer or light main course with a focus on balanced Asian-inspired flavors.
