Asian Turkey Meatballs

Asian Turkey Meatballs combine ground turkey, egg, sliced green onions, salt, and coconut flour to form tender meatballs baked until cooked through. The meatballs are tossed in a creamy sauce made with peanut butter, coconut milk, soy sauce, rice vinegar, honey, ginger, and sesame oil. Garnished with fresh cilantro and sesame seeds, this dish offers a balance of savory, sweet, and slightly tangy flavors with a tender texture.

Description

These Asian Turkey Meatballs start with lean ground turkey mixed with whisked egg, thinly sliced green onions, salt, and coconut flour for binding. Formed into approximately 20 meatballs, they are baked at 400 degrees Fahrenheit on parchment paper until no longer pink inside, roughly 15 minutes. Excess fat is drained by transferring the cooked meatballs to a paper towel-lined plate.

Meanwhile, the sauce is prepared by whisking together natural creamy peanut butter (or almond butter), full-fat coconut milk, soy sauce or reduced-sodium coconut aminos, rice vinegar, honey, minced fresh ginger, and sesame oil until smooth. The meatballs are gently folded into the sauce, careful to avoid breaking their delicate texture.

The finished dish is garnished with additional sliced green onion, fresh cilantro leaves, and sesame seeds, giving a fresh herbal note and visual appeal. The meatballs offer a soft, juicy bite paired with a rich, nutty, and tangy sauce, making them a flavorful entree or appetizer option.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 pound ground turkey (85% lean)
  • 1 egg whisked
  • 1/4 cup green onion sliced (plus additional for garnish
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons coconut flour

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup peanut butter or almond butter, natural creamy
  • 8 teaspoons coconut milk full fat
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce or coconut aminos, reduced sodium
  • 4 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon ginger minced, fresh
  • 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
  • cilantro for garnish
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat your oven to 400 degrees and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix the turkey, egg, green onion and salt. Add in the coconut flour and mix until combined. Form into 20 balls (I use a heaping cookie scoop) and place onto the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake until no longer pink inside, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel lined plate to blot off the fat that gets released as they cook.
  4. Whisk ALL the sauce ingredients together until smooth and then GENTLY stir in the meatballs (they break easily.)
  5. Garnish as desired and DEVOUR
