Baked Apples

Report
Baked Apples are whole red apples hollowed and filled with a spiced mixture of brown sugar, cinnamon, softened butter, and chopped walnuts. They bake in water until soft but not mushy, yielding tender, fragrant fruit with a caramelized, nutty filling. Served warm with the pan juices and ice cream, they offer a comforting sweet treat.

Description

Start by coring large red apples to create a cavity for the filling. The filling blends brown sugar, ground cinnamon, softened unsalted butter, and finely chopped walnuts, which is spooned into each apple. Apples sit in a baking dish with water around them to keep them moist during baking at 350°F for 40 to 45 minutes.

After baking, the apples are soft and tender, holding their shape without becoming mushy. The brown sugar mixture melts into a syrupy, spiced nut topping inside each apple. Serving the apples warm with the pan’s syrup and a scoop of ice cream makes a classic seasonal dessert with contrasting textures and sweet-spiced flavor.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2 to 3 days without losing quality.
