Baked Blueberry Doughnuts

Baked blueberry doughnuts feature a tender, moist crumb with pockets of fresh blueberries throughout. The batter includes buttermilk, vanilla, and a touch of butter for richness. These doughnuts bake in a pan for light texture and are finished with a dusting of powdered sugar for subtle sweetness.

Description

These baked blueberry doughnuts combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt with creamed butter and sugar for a soft dough base. Eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla add moisture and flavor, while folding in fresh blueberries provides juicy bursts in each bite.

Baking in a greased and floured doughnut pan ensures the doughnuts hold their shape with a tender crumb that's less dense than fried doughnuts. The tops spring back when lightly pressed, indicating proper baking. Cooling before dusting with powdered sugar adds a light sweetness without overpowering the natural blueberry flavor.

This recipe makes a convenient, oven-baked alternative to traditional fried doughnuts, suitable for breakfast or a snack with tea or coffee.
