Baked Chicken Legs
Description
Baked Chicken Legs use a dry seasoning mix consisting of salt, ground black pepper, onion powder, poultry seasoning, and paprika to impart a balanced savory flavor. Rubbing the chicken legs with olive oil helps the spices stick and promotes even browning during roasting. Baking takes place at 425°F on a foil-lined sheet pan lightly sprayed with nonstick spray for easy cleanup.
Roasting uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes produces browned skin with a crisp texture while ensuring the meat reaches a safe internal temperature of 165°F. The method is straightforward and delivers reliably cooked chicken with flavorful seasoning evenly distributed on all sides.
If the oven tends to run hot or the chicken skin browns too quickly, the legs can be covered loosely with foil during baking to prevent burning while allowing the meat to cook through. Adjusting oven rack positions can also help regulate browning intensity. Serve the chicken legs warm as a protein-rich meal component.
If your oven runs hot or the chicken skin darkens before fully cooked, cover the chicken with foil during baking to prevent burning until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.Moving the chicken to a higher oven rack can reduce browning speed if needed.
