Baked Salmon with Garlic Parmesan Bread Crumbs

This baked salmon dish features a crunchy garlic Parmesan breadcrumb topping that adds rich flavor and texture to tender, flaky salmon. The topping is made with melted butter, minced garlic, Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs, and grated Parmesan. Baking melds these flavors and creates a golden crust over the salmon fillet, cooked just until done.

Description

Baked Salmon with Garlic Parmesan Bread Crumbs is a straightforward recipe putting emphasis on the buttery, garlicky crumb mixture that contrasts the moist salmon underneath. The salmon, with skin on or off, is dried and placed on a parchment-lined baking sheet to help the topping adhere and prevent steaming. The topping is composed of melted salted butter combined with finely minced garlic, Italian-seasoned breadcrumbs, and grated Parmesan cheese, producing a textured but damp crumb mixture resembling damp sand.

After applying this crust evenly over the salmon, baking at 400°F for 12 to 15 minutes cooks the fish through and crisps the breadcrumb topping to a golden shade. The salmon remains tender and flaky while the crust provides flavorful crispness. Thicker salmon fillets may require slightly more cooking time to reach doneness.

This dish is simple yet flavorful and can serve as a main course accompanied by vegetables, rice, or salads. The topping adds both texture contrast and a cheesy, savory element enhanced by garlic and butter.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 1/2 pounds salmon wild caught or farm raised, with skin on or off
  • 1/4 cup butter melted, salted
  • 3 cloves garlic finely minced, about 1/2-1 tablespoon
  • 3/4 cup Italian seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400° F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. Unwrap salmon and press with paper towels to dry. Place onto baking sheet.
  3. In a small bowl, stir melted butter together with minced garlic, breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. It should look like damp sand.
  4. Spread crumbs over salmon and press an even layer overtop the entire filet. Bake 12-15 minutes or until fully cooked. (Thicker pieces of salmon will take longer.)
  5. Cool slightly, cut into pieces and serve.
