Baked Turkey Meatballs
Description
This recipe uses a mix of lean ground turkey and turkey sausage, combined with panko breadcrumbs, Parmesan and Romano cheeses, and fresh herbs like basil and parsley. Garlic and onion powders add depth, along with salt for seasoning. Eggs bind the mixture together before shaping into uniform balls of about 2 ounces.
Baked at 400°F for 15-20 minutes, the meatballs develop a firm texture while retaining juiciness. Mixing the meatballs with sauce after baking allows the flavors to meld, either by simmering briefly or immediate serving, enhancing moisture and taste.
These meatballs serve well with pasta, in sandwiches, or alone as a protein dish. The inclusion of a cheese blend distinguishes them with a richer flavor, while fresh herbs add aromatic freshness. Simmering in sauce before serving deepens the meatball flavor, but skipping this step keeps the texture more distinct.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey lean
- 1 pound lean turkey sausage

- 2 tablespoons Italian parsley finely chopped, fresh
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 2 Large egg

- Mix breadcrumbs, cheeses, basil, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt in a small bowl.
- In a large bowl place the meat and work it together.
- Add breadcrumb mixture from the small bowl and the eggs to the meat.
- Work everything together until it is thoroughly mixed.

- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
- Remove from oven and place into pan with sauce in it coating the meatballs before serving them.
Notes
- Simmering meatballs in sauce for 10-15 minutes enhances flavor absorption.
- For quicker serving, toss meatballs in sauce without simmering before plating.
- Serve over pasta, in sandwiches, or alone with additional sauce and cheese as desired.
