  • 1 medium onion grated
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp oregano dried
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1 tsp Aleppo pepper
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dill dried
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and coat a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground turkey, grated onion, minced garlic, egg, oregano, lemon zest, Aleppo pepper, cumin, salt and dried dill. Add the flour and mix again until combined.
  3. Scoop out the meatballs and place them on the baking sheet.
  4. Bake the meatballs in the oven for 20 to 25 minutes until fully cooked.
  5. Serve with pita bread, cucumber, tomato and tzatziki sauce.

Notes

  • To make these ahead of time: Make the meatball mixture, refrigerate for up to 2 days and bake when you’re ready.
  • Freezing instructions: Scoop out the meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Freeze for one hour until they’re firm and then store them in a sealed freezer bag. Freeze for up to 3 months. To bake, thaw the meatballs in the fridge and bake as instructed.
  • Leftovers: Store the leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
  • To make sure all the meatballs are the same size, use an ice cream or cookie scoop to portion the meatballs.
  • Want to make it spicy? Add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper to the meatball mixture.
  • If the meatball mixture is hard to scoop out and shape, cover it and refrigerate for one hour.
