Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Banana Oatmeal Cookies combine the moistness and natural sweetness of ripe mashed bananas with the hearty chew of rolled oats and the touch of semisweet chocolate chips. These cookies feature a soft yet slightly crisp texture with warm cinnamon flavor and a balanced sweetness from both brown and white sugars. They're a homestyle cookie blending fruit and classic baking ingredients.

Description

The recipe creames softened butter with sugars, then incorporates eggs and vanilla extract before adding a dry mixture of flour, rolled oats, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. The ripe mashed bananas and chocolate chips are folded in last, contributing moisture and sweetness respectively. Baking at 375 degrees for about 12 minutes results in cookies that spread slightly with browned edges and a set center.

The oats provide chew and texture, complementing the soft crumb from mashed bananas. The cinnamon adds a subtle spice element to enhance the flavor profile. Chocolate chips add bursts of melting sweetness throughout.

This recipe allows variations such as substituting nuts like walnuts or pecans for the chocolate chips, offering a different texture and flavor for those preferring nuts over chocolate.
