Banana Oatmeal Cookies

Banana Oatmeal Cookies combine mashed ripe bananas and quick-cooking oats for a soft, naturally sweet cookie with chocolate chips. These cookies are easy to shape and bake to a tender texture with a mild banana flavor enhanced by pockets of chocolate. They make a practical snack or light dessert using pantry ingredients, perfect for those seeking a wholesome treat without added sugars.

Description

Banana Oatmeal Cookies rely on mashed ripe bananas and quick oats as the main ingredients, producing a chewy, soft cookie with a slight natural sweetness. The quick oats provide texture, complementing the moistness from the bananas, while chocolate chips add occasional bursts of rich flavor. Dropped and flattened on a baking sheet, the dough bakes at moderate heat until set but still tender.

The method involves pureeing the bananas first, then folding in oats and chocolate chips before shaping and baking. The simplicity of ingredients makes these cookies approachable to prepare. They can be enjoyed fresh or stored briefly as a quick snack.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 banana about 1 cup mashed, large, ripe
  • 1 ½ cups oats quick cooking
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large bowl, mash the bananas with a fork until they're smooth and pureed.
  2. Add the oats and stir until the mixture is well combined.
  3. Add the chocolate chips or your favorite mix-ins, then stir again.
  4. Drop 1 ½ tablespoon portions of dough onto the baking sheet (I love to use this cookie scoop), then use your fingers to flatten them into a round cookie shape.
  5. Bake the banana oatmeal cookies for 13 to 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool for a few minutes, then enjoy.
