Banana Pound Cake
Description
The Banana Pound Cake starts with a combination of all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to form the dry base. Creamed together butter with white and brown sugars creates a sweet and tender foundation, to which eggs are added gradually for structure. Mashed ripe bananas and vanilla extract introduce natural sweetness and moisture.
Sour cream is mixed in alternately with the flour mixture to maintain a moist, dense crumb typical of pound cakes. The batter is poured into a greased and floured bundt pan and baked at 350°F for about an hour until a toothpick comes out clean, indicating doneness. Cooling briefly before unmolding ensures the cake retains shape.
The glaze made from powdered sugar and milk is drizzled over the fully cooled cake, forming a sweet, delicate coating that complements the banana flavor without overwhelming it. This cake suits dessert or snack occasions, offering moist texture balanced by the glaze’s subtle sweetness.
