Banana Pudding

Banana Pudding combines homemade vanilla pudding, chantilly cream, sliced bananas, and Nilla Wafers layered to create a creamy, soft dessert with contrasting textures from the wafers. The pudding thickens on the stove using cornstarch and is chilled before layering. The chantilly cream adds a light sweetness and airiness. After assembling in layers, it is refrigerated to set, allowing flavors to meld and the wafers to soften slightly without losing all their texture.

Description

Banana Pudding is assembled from three main components: a creamy vanilla pudding made by thickening milk with cornstarch and sugar, a whipped chantilly cream made from heavy cream and powdered sugar, and fresh banana slices layered with Nilla Wafers. The pudding is prepared over heat until thick but not boiled, then cooled. The chantilly cream is whipped to soft peaks for a fluffy texture. When assembling, alternating layers of pudding, wafers, chantilly cream, and bananas create a balance of creamy and tender with subtle crunch from the wafers. Chilling the assembled dessert for several hours allows the layers to set and flavors to combine.

The result is a classic dessert that offers a smooth vanilla flavor with fresh banana sweetness and a delicate, slightly crunchy texture from the wafers. This dessert suits a variety of occasions where a refreshing and comforting sweet treat is desired.
