Banana Split Ice Cream Burger
Description
This inventive dessert starts with banana cakes molded into half spheres to form burger buns, some baked in special molds with others cut from sheet cakes. After cooling, the tops are sliced off, and the centers scooped out to create space for fillings. The interiors are brushed with melted white chocolate, which hardens to provide a moisture barrier and subtle sweetness.
Fresh strawberries simmer with water and sugar to create a thick yet pourable strawberry sauce, cooled before use. This sauce fills the white chocolate-lined buns, which are then topped with their remaining halves. Both top and bottom buns are glazed with a salted caramel sauce to add sticky sweetness and a hint of saltiness. Finely crushed peanut 'sesame seeds' are sprinkled on top for added texture and nutty flavor.
The ice cream element is a dark chocolate-dipped ice cream bar that acts as the 'patty' within the banana cake buns. This combination offers a variety of textures from soft cake, creamy ice cream, sticky caramel, and fruity sauce, making for a visually fun and flavorful dessert option.
Adapted enthusiastically from Cleobuttera's original caramel ice cream burger recipe, it showcases a creative approach to serving classic flavors in novel form.
