Beef Brisket Tacos
Description
The recipe slow cooks a sizable beef brisket cut with liquid smoke, bay leaves, and beer for 8 to 10 hours until the meat becomes tender enough to shred. The liquid smoke imparts a smoky flavor while the beer and bay leaves add depth to the cooking liquid.
Once cooked, the brisket is shredded, discarding fatty bits, and spooned onto warmed corn tortillas. The tacos are customizable with toppings including shredded cheese, crema mexicana or sour cream, chopped onion, fresh cilantro, avocado slices, and salsa of choice, allowing a range of textures and flavors with smoky, savory beef.
Leftover brisket stores well refrigerated for up to a week or frozen for up to three months. Chuck roast can be swapped in as a more economical alternative to brisket, and if Claude’s Brisket Marinade Sauce is unavailable, beef broth with a splash of liquid smoke is a suitable substitute.
Ingredients
- 2 to 4 pounds beef brisket
- 2 ounces liquid smoke recommend Claude’s Brisket Marinade Sauce, per pound of meat
- 2 bay leaf
- 12 ounces beer
- 12 to 24 corn tortillas depending on how much you fill each taco
