Beef Burrito Recipe
Description
The Beef Burrito Recipe brings together seasoned ground beef cooked with diced tomatoes with green chilies, onions, and taco seasoning, ensuring a hearty and flavorful filling. The meat is gently simmered with water and spices until the onions soften, preventing excess moisture that could cause sogginess. Refried beans are warmed separately to maintain texture. Each burrito is assembled by spreading beans first, then layering rice, the spiced beef mixture, shredded lettuce, diced fresh tomatoes, red onion, and cheddar cheese. Large soft flour tortillas provide a sturdy wrap that holds all the fillings without tearing.
The mixture of beans and rice adds substance while the fresh vegetables add a crisp contrast. Melty cheddar cheese tops the filling to add creaminess and taste that complements the seasoned beef. The recipe finishes with rolling the ingredients tightly for an easy handheld meal. Serving with salsa or hot sauce adds acidity and heat to cut through the richness.
This burrito works well for casual dinners or packed lunches, offering layered flavors and satisfying textures in every bite. The recipe’s straightforward preparation and common ingredients make it practical for home cooks aiming for a classic Tex-Mex wrap.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 diced tomatoes with green chilies canned, brand: ROTEL
- 1 tablespoon taco seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 onion finely diced
- 1/4 cup water
- 6 flour tortilla burrito size, large soft
- 1 refried beans canned
- 2 cups rice cooked
- 2 Roma tomato deseeded and diced
- 1/2 red onion finely diced
- 2 cups iceberg lettuce shredded
- 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
Instructions
- First, brown the ground beef.
- Stir in the taco seasoning, salt, rotel and the onion and water until the onion is soft. Once the flavors are combined, remove from heat and set aside. You don’t want to fill the burrito when the meat is still steaming or the burrito will be soggy.
- In another pan heat up the refried beans.
- Begin assembling the burritos.
- Place a burrito on a work surface. Spread with refried beans.
- Next, add the rice and then a little of the meat mixture on top.
- Finally, top with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and red onion.
- Fold the ends in and roll up.
- Serve with our favorite hot sauce or salsa.
- Enjoy!
