Description
This Beef Taco Pasta Skillet begins by browning ground beef with diced onions and minced garlic until cooked through and any excess fat drained. Taco seasoning mix is added along with diced green bell pepper, salsa, tomato sauce, and elbow macaroni. The mixture is covered and simmered over medium-low heat, gently cooking the pasta while infusing it with the spiced sauce components. Additional water may be added during cooking to ensure the pasta becomes tender without drying out.
Once the pasta is cooked, shredded cheddar cheese is stirred in to melt and coat the skillet contents, adding creaminess and a rich flavor layer. The blend of the savory beef, spicy seasonings, tomato base, and melted cheese creates a hearty, textured meal that requires minimal cleanup. The dish can be garnished with toppings like tomatoes, jalapeños, sour cream, or green onions to taste.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 onion diced
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 green bell pepper diced
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix McCormick brand
- 2 ½ cups water divided
- 1 cup salsa
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 1 ¼ cup elbow macaroni
- 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
Instructions
- Brown beef, onion and garlic until no pink remains, about 5-6 minutes. Drain any fat.
- Add McCormick® Taco Seasoning Mix, green pepper, 2 cups of the water, salsa, tomato sauce and macaroni.
- Cover and simmer over medium-low heat stirring occasionally 20 minutes or just until pasta is tender adding remaining water as needed.
- Remove from heat and stir in 1 cup cheddar cheese.
- Garnish as desired with tomatoes, jalapenos, sour cream and green onion.
