Instructions

  1. Prep. Preheat oven to 325º F. Place ham in a roasting pan.
  2. Bake. Cover your ham well with foil and bake for 10 to 18 minutes per pound until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140º F when checked with an instant-read thermometer. You will occasionally remove the foil to baste the ham with the drippings from the bottom of the roasting pan. (See the glaze variations below for custom instructions)
  3. Rest. Allow the baked ham to rest for 5 to 10 minutes after removing it from the oven. Remove the ham from the roasting pan and onto a platter for serving.

Honey Baked Ham Recipe

  1. Prep. Arrange the oven rack in the middle of the oven and preheat your oven to 325º F. Place your spiral-sliced ham into a roasting pan. Combine the melted butter and honey and brush onto the ham.
  2. Bake. Cover your ham well with foil and bake for 10 to 18 minutes per pound until the ham reaches an internal temperature of 140º F when checked with an instant-read thermometer. You will occasionally remove the foil to baste the ham with the drippings from the bottom of the roasting pan.
  3. Make the Glaze. Mix together the sugar and all of the seasonings to make the glaze. With about 10 minutes left of baking time, add half of the seasoning to a small saucepan with 3 tablespoons of water. Boil for a minute and then remove from the heat.
  4. Coat and Broil. During the last 5 minutes of baking, remove the ham from the oven and remove the foil. Pat the remaining sugar mixture onto the top of the ham. Turn the oven to broil. Broil for several minutes until the sugar mixture is bubbly. Remove from the oven.
  5. Glaze and Broil. Pour the glaze over the ham and broil for another minute. Watch carefully so that it does not burn.
  6. Rest. Allow the baked ham to rest for 5 to 10 minutes after removing it from the oven. Remove the ham from the roasting pan and onto a platter for serving.

Cola Glazed Ham Recipe

  1. Prep. Preheat oven to 325º F. Place ham in a roasting pan.
  2. Bake. Combine Coca-Cola and brown sugar and pour over ham. Cover tightly with aluminum foil. Every 30 minutes, uncover the ham and baste well with the pan juices and then recover the ham. Bake 10 to 18 minutes per pound, until the tam registers 140º F when checked with an instant-read thermometer. Remove the foil for the last 10 minutes of cooking time so that after the final glaze, the glaze is able to caramelize on the ham
  3. Rest. Allow the baked ham to rest for 5 to 10 minutes after removing it from the oven. Remove the ham from the roasting pan and onto a platter for serving.

Notes

  • How Much Ham to Plan Per Person
  • ¼ – ⅓ lb. per serving of boneless ham⅓ – ½ lb. of meat per serving of bone-in ham
  • I personally plan 1/2 pound per person of bone-in, spiral-sliced ham.
  • How to Store and Freeze Baked Ham
  • To store: Cooked ham should be wrapped tightly and stored in the refrigerator as soon as possible after serving. Stored properly, cooked ham should keep for 3 to 5 days in the refrigerator.
  • To freeze: wrap the cooled ham tightly with freezer-safe wrap and store it in a freezer-safe container for up to 2 months.
  • To serve, allow to thaw in the refrigerator and then reheat and serve or serve cold.
