Ingredients
- 1 german chocolate cake mix water, vegetable oil, eggs etc, plus ingredients to prepare
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk can
- 16 oz caramel ice cream topping in jar
- 8 oz Cool Whip
- Toffee bits
Instructions
- In a medium sized mixing bowl prepare cake mix as directed on box. Bake according to directions on box in a 9 x 13 inch cake pan.
- Remove from oven and immediately poke holes in the cake with a wooden spoon. Pour sweetened condensed milk into holes until milk is absorbed. Repeat with caramel ice cream topping.
- Place in refrigerator and let cool completely.
- Remove from refrigerator after it is cool and spread cool whip over the cake. Sprinkle with toffee bits as desired.
- Store in refrigerator.
Notes
- Always refrigerate the cake after adding sweetened condensed milk because it is not cooked and can spoil if left out.
- Freeze the cake without the whipped topping and toffee bits for up to three months; thaw in the refrigerator before frosting to maintain quality.
- Prepare ahead by making the cake base and soaking it, then add the whipped topping and toffee just before serving.
