Big Mac Tacos (Smash Burger Tacos)

Big Mac Tacos transform classic smashed beef burgers into taco form using seasoned ground beef patties cooked thin on tortillas, topped with American cheese, shredded lettuce, onions, pickles, and homemade Big Mac sauce. The tacos deliver familiar burger flavors and textures served in a soft flour tortilla without a bun.

Description

This recipe recreates the iconic Big Mac experience by shaping ground beef into thin patties pressed onto flour tortillas, then seasoning them lightly with salt and pepper before cooking. The patties cook quickly in a hot cast iron skillet to develop a seared crust, with slices of American cheese added briefly before finishing.

The tacos are assembled by drizzling a tangy, creamy Big Mac sauce made from mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, vinegar, grated onion, pickle relish, and spices over the cooked patties, followed by shredded lettuce, minced onion, and sliced dill pickles. The soft flour tortillas wrap these components into handheld tacos.

These tacos serve as a creative way to enjoy familiar burger ingredients in taco form, suitable for casual meals or gatherings. The Big Mac sauce adds a signature tang and sweetness, complementing the savory beef and fresh toppings.

Ingredients

Servings

For the burgers:

  • 1 lbs ground beef 80/20 Divided into 4 (4oz) patties
  • 4 inch flour tortillas
  • 1 Teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ Teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 lices American cheese
  • ¼ Cup Big Mac sauce
  • ¾ Cup lettuce shredded
  • 3 Tablespoons onion white, minced
  • 12 dill pickles sliced

For the Big Mac sauce:

  • ½ Cup mayonnaise
  • 1 1/2 Tablespoons Dijon mustard or yellow mustard
  • 1 Teaspoon white vinegar
  • 2 Tablespoons onion white, grated
  • 2 Tablespoons pickle relish sweet
  • ½ Teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ Teaspoon paprika
  • ½ Teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ Teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

For the Big Mac Sauce:

  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together all the sauce ingredients. Transfer to a glass jar storage container, such as a mason jar and refrigerate until ready to use.

For the burgers:

  1. On a clean work surface, spread the 4 ounce burger patties evenly over the flour tortillas until almost completely covered. Season each pattie with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium high heat until lightly smoking. Add one or two patties meat side down and lightly press onto the skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes, flip, add a cheese slice and cook for another 1 or 2 minutes. The burgers are thin and won’t take long. Repeat with remaining burger patties.
  3. To dress the burger tacos, drizzle on 1-2 tablespoons of the big mac sauce, add the lettuce, onion and 3 pickles. Serve immediately.
