Bisquick Apple Cobbler

Bisquick Apple Cobbler includes thinly sliced Granny Smith apples tossed with sugar, spices, lemon juice, and vanilla, topped with a Bisquick batter spiced with cinnamon and brown sugar. The cobbler bakes until golden and bubbly, creating a warm, spiced dessert with a tender fruit filling beneath a soft, slightly crisp topping. It’s ideal for serving with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Description

This Bisquick Apple Cobbler uses Granny Smith apples thinly sliced and mixed with granulated and brown sugars, cornstarch to thicken, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, vanilla extract, and freshly squeezed lemon juice. The apple mixture is spread evenly in a greased skillet or baking dish. A batter made of Bisquick mix, milk, melted butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar is spooned over the apples. Baking at 375˚F for about 45 minutes produces a golden-brown crust and soft, cooked apples underneath. The resulting cobbler balances the tartness of the apples with warming spices and a slightly sweet, cakey topping.

Best enjoyed warm, the cobbler pairs nicely with cold vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for contrast. Using Granny Smith apples ensures the filling holds its shape and provides bright tart flavor, though Honeycrisp or Gala can be alternatives. To avoid over-browning, covering the top with foil during baking is an option. This cobbler is convenient for home bakers seeking a straightforward fruit dessert using Bisquick mix.

The recipe is suitable for a 9-inch cast iron skillet or a ceramic or glass baking dish, offering flexibility depending on your bakeware. The apple filling can be prepared ahead to save time at baking.

Notes

  • Use a 9" cast iron skillet or a 9x9 ceramic or glass baking dish as alternatives.

  • If the cobbler top browns too quickly, cover with aluminum foil and continue baking.
