Blackened Salmon

Blackened Salmon is prepared by coating fillets in a spice blend including paprika, cayenne, and garlic powder, then cooking in a hot skillet to develop a crispy, blackened crust. The salmon is finished with a garlic parsley butter sauce prepared in the same pan, adding richness and flavor.

Description

Blackened Salmon starts by mixing a robust spice rub combining paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic and onion powders, oregano, salt, and pepper. Salmon fillets are coated with olive oil and this seasoning, then seared in a hot skillet to create a dark, flavorful crust from the spices and caramelization. Each side cooks for about 4-5 minutes until the exterior crisps up and the fish is nearly cooked through.

Butter is then melted in the skillet, flavored with garlic and fresh parsley, and the salmon is returned briefly to the pan with lemon slices to soak in the buttery sauce. This finishing touch adds a bright, aromatic quality contrasting the smoky spices.

Serve the salmon warm with the butter sauce spooned over, presenting a dish with both a crispy seasoned crust and a tender, moist inside. The combination works well with simple sides like steamed vegetables or rice.
