Blonde Brownies
Description
This recipe starts by creaming softened butter with packed brown sugar to build a tender yet chewy base. Eggs added gradually help create structure, followed by baking powder, salt, and vanilla extract for leavening and flavor depth. The addition of all-purpose flour blends the ingredients into a thick batter that spreads evenly in a large jelly roll pan. Chocolate chips sprinkled on top melt into the surface during baking, offering pockets of rich chocolate within the golden crust.
After 25 to 30 minutes of baking, the bars set with a slightly crisp golden top while remaining soft inside. These bars can be cooled, sliced, and eaten fresh or stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to a week. Optionally, they freeze well for longer storage.
The recipe notes highlight the importance of using softened butter and room temperature eggs for proper texture, as well as careful flour measuring to avoid dryness. Variations with different chocolate chips or nuts can be added to adjust flavor and texture according to preference.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter Softened
- 3 cups brown sugar
- 4 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease a 10'' x 15'' jelly roll pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl cream butter and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs, one at a time and mix after each addition until combined.
- Then add baking powder, salt and vanilla extract and mix until combined. Add flour, one cup at a time, mixing after each cup.
- Spread batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips evenly on top of batter.
- Bake 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees or until set in the middle and golden brown on top.
Notes
- Allow butter and eggs to come to room temperature before mixing to achieve the best batter consistency and final texture.
- Measure flour by spooning it into the cup and leveling off to prevent using too much, which can cause dense brownies.
- Wait until brownies are fully cooled before slicing for clean edges and easier handling.
- Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week for freshness.
- You can freeze the brownies in a freezer-safe container for up to three months; thaw at room temperature before serving.
- Consider adding chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans to the batter or sprinkling them on top for additional crunch.
- Chocolate chip varieties such as white chocolate or peanut butter chips can be used to customize flavor.
