Blondies
Description
Blondies combine melted butter and packed light brown sugar to create a moist, flavorful base. Eggs and vanilla add structure and aroma. Flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt leaven and balance the sweetness. A trio of baking chips—chocolate, white chocolate, and butterscotch—adds variety and richness to the batter. The mixture is baked in a 9x13-inch pan until a toothpick inserted comes out clean, then cooled before slicing into bars.
The result is a chewy, tender cookie bar with a rich buttery flavor and pockets of melted chips providing contrast. Blondies have a sweet, soft crumb with varied textures from the chips throughout. Their straightforward preparation makes them accessible for bakers of all levels.
These bars store well at room temperature for days in an airtight container and freeze nicely for up to three months. Variations include adding chopped nuts or substituting peanut butter chips for additional flavor complexity. They can be served as a snack, dessert, or packed as portable treats.
Blondies taste best fresh but freezing allows making them ahead to enjoy later without loss of texture or flavor.
