Blueberry Buttermilk Pie

Blueberry Buttermilk Pie is a custard-style pie made with a classic pie crust filled with a smooth blend of buttermilk, eggs, sugar, flour, melted butter, and vanilla, studded with fresh or frozen blueberries. Baked until golden and set, the pie offers a creamy, tangy custard with bursts of sweet blueberry, dusted with confectioners sugar for a finishing touch.

Description

This Blueberry Buttermilk Pie begins with a prepared pie crust fitted into a 9-inch dish. The filling combines granulated sugar and all-purpose flour whipped together, then emulsified with melted butter, followed by eggs added one at a time. Buttermilk and vanilla extract round out the custard base, imparting a rich tanginess.

Fresh or frozen blueberries are dropped into the custard filling before baking, creating pockets of juicy fruit throughout the pie. Baking at 325°F for about an hour allows the custard to set fully and the top to develop a light golden color. Once cooled, the pie is dusted with confectioners sugar for a delicate sweetness and visual appeal.

Served chilled or at room temperature, this pie balances creamy tang from the buttermilk with the sweet freshness of blueberries, making it suitable for dessert or special occasions. The texture is smooth and custard-like with moist berry bursts.
