Blueberry Infused Gin

Blueberry Infused Gin is made by gently heating fresh blueberries to release their juices before combining them with Plymouth Gin. The infusion process lasts five days in a sealed container, producing a fruity spirit with berry flavor. Straining removes solids for a clear, smooth gin, ideal for cocktails or sipping.

Description

The preparation begins by rinsing fresh organic blueberries and warming them over medium heat until they release liquid. This step helps extract color and flavor without breaking down the berries completely. After cooling to room temperature, the blueberries along with their juice are placed in an airtight jar and combined with a full bottle of Plymouth Gin. The jar is stored in a cool, dark place and shaken daily for five days to encourage infusion.

After infusing, the gin is strained through a fine mesh to remove solids, improving clarity and shelf life. Storing the finished blueberry gin in the refrigerator helps maintain freshness. This infused gin can be used to add a subtle fruity note to classic gin cocktails or enjoyed on its own.

This recipe requires no additional ingredients and highlights the blueberry flavor supported by the quality of the gin and the timed infusion process. The controlled warming and infusion steps extract flavor without overpowering the spirit.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 3 cups blueberries organic
  • 1 750 ml Plymouth Gin bottle

Instructions

  1. Give blueberries a good rinse, then add to a large pot (no need to dry them). Warm blueberries over medium heat, stirring often. Cook blueberries until they release a decent amount of liquid.* Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  2. Add blueberries with juices to a large, airtight jar. Pour in entire bottle of gin. Seal the lid and store in a cool, dark spot for 5 days. Be sure to give the jar a good shake at least once a day.
  3. After 5 days, strain infused gin through a fine mesh basket strainer into a clean bottle or container. The more solid bits you strain out, the longer the gin will last! Store in the refrigerator.

Notes

  • Stop heating the blueberries once more liquid is released than solid berries to preserve flavor balance.
  • Shake the jar containing blueberries and gin daily during the 5-day infusion to evenly distribute flavor.
  • Strain the infused gin thoroughly to remove solids for longer shelf life and clearer appearance.
  • Store the strained gin in the refrigerator to keep it fresh after infusion.
