Bocadillo Serranito

A Spanish bocadillo (bocata) is a sandwich filled with various ingredients. The version with Serrano ham is called serranito, typical of Andalusia.

Ingredients

  • 2 Pork Loin steak
  • 1 green bell pepper bull’s horn type, long
  • 2 lices serrano ham
  • ½ baguette (or ½ Viennese bread)
  • ½ tomato , thinly sliced
  • ½ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • mayonnaise , optional
  • salt
  • Fries

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat ½ cup (150ml) extra-virgin olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Make a few holes in the bell pepper with a toothpick and place it in the hot oil.
  3. Fry it all over until very tender and the skin is blistered and black.
  4. Remove it from the oil and place it on a cutting board.
  5. Using a fork and knife, remove the bell pepper's blistered skin, stem and seeds.
  6. Cut it in half lengthwise. Set aside.
  7. In the same skillet, after throwing out most of the olive oil (keep very little), cook the 2 pork loin steaks until golden brown. Salt them at the end of cooking.
  8. Cut the bread in half lengthwise.
  9. Spread mayonnaise on both pieces.
  10. Place the tomato slices in the sandwich.
  11. Place the loin steaks, the green bell pepper on top and finish with the Serrano ham.
  12. Serve immediately with French fries.
